Danish knitwear manufacturer S.N.S. Herning was established in 1931, and is named after the initials of its founder, Mr Søren Nielsen Skyt, and the town in Denmark where the family-owned firm is still based. The original design was born out of function rather than fashion, a fact which goes a long way in explaining why the sweaters look as good today as they did 80 years ago. All knits are still made on the original Herning looms in Denmark. Each sweater is signed by the artisian who knitted them.
