OGJM is a brand conceived by two friends coming together, each using their own strengths and skills to make something new. It began with one necklace at the start of 2009. Artist Orly Genger was about to open her largest to date exhibition at the Indianapolis Museum of Art when jewelry designer Jaclyn Mayer visited her at her studio in Long Island City. Orly had asked Jaclyn to bring jewelry for her to wear to the opening night of her exhibition. Instead, Jaclyn decided to make a necklace out of the rope Orly used in her sculpture. Both girls realized they had something uniquely their own which could be developed into a successful brand.
